India reports less than 1 lakh daily COVID-19 cases after 63 days

Bhubaneswar: Continuing its declining trend, India’s daily COVID-19 cases dipped below the one lakh mark in the last 24-hours. This is for the first time in the last 63 days the country has reported less than one lakh daily cases.

According to the data released by the Union health ministry the country has reported 86,498 fresh cases and 2123 deaths in the last 24-hours. However, 1,82,282  people have recovered from the infection during the 24-hours.

With these new cases, India’s COVID-19 tally has increased to 2.89 crore and death toll has increased to 3.51 lakh. The country’s active case load has further eased to 13,03,702.

Meanwhile, as many as 18.73 lakh samples were tested yesterday, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). So India’s test positivity rate has declined 4.6 per cent.
