Mumbai : Indian benchmark indices opened with marginally higher on August 1 despite positive global cues.
The Sensex was up 54.58 points or 0.08% at 66,582.25, and the Nifty was up 12.50 points or 0.06% at 19,766.30. About 1512 shares advanced, 487 shares declined, and 118 shares unchanged.
Hindalco Industries, Hero MotoCorp, NTPC, Bharti Airtel,Tech Mahindra and JSW Steel were among major gainers on the Nifty, while losers were Power Grid Corp, ONGC, Maruti Suzuki, BPCL and Bajaj Finserv.
