Mumbai : Indian indices opened the new Year flat with Nifty around 21,700. The Sensex was down 101.17 points or 0.14 percent at 72,139.09, and the Nifty was down 20.10 points or 0.09 percent at 21,711.30. About 1815 shares advanced, 595 shares declined, and 162 shares unchanged. BPCL, Coal India, Dr Reddy’s Labs, Grasim Industries and Divis Labs were among major gainers on the Nifty, while losers were Bharti Airtel, Eicher Motors, M&M, Axis Bank, Bajaj Auto and LTIMindtree.
