Amid rising cases, Odisha announces Night Curfew in all districts from Friday

Bhubaneswar: In view of rising COVID-19 cases in the state, the Odisha government on Thursday announced weekend shutdown in 10 districts which are in close proximity of Chhattisgarh. The government has also decided to extend night curfew to all 30 districts, from the current 10 districts.

These 10 districts are Sundargarh, Jharsuguda,Bargarh, Sambalpur, Kalahandi, Balangir,Nuapada, Koraput, Nabrangpur and Malakangiri. Night curfew in these 10 districts will be from 6 pm to 5 am. In the rest 20 districts, night curfew will be from 9 pm to 5 am.

Odisha chief Secretary Suresh Mohapatra announced the fresh COVID-19 restrictions in a televised address. During his address he made it clear that all the economic activities will continue while adhering COVID-19 restrictions.

Odisha has reported as many as 2989 new positive cases on Wednesday taking the tally to 3.58 lakh. However, total active cases in the state now stands at 14621 and total recoveries stands at 3.41 lakh. As many as  610 patients recovered yesterday, the state Information and Public Relations Department said.
