3 cities in Odisha under complete shutdown as new cases rise 300% in just 12 hours

Bhubaneswar:  Several places including three cities-Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Bhadrak in Odisha are under complete shutdown after the number of confirmed cased rose 300% in just one day.  While Odisha’s total cases were only 5 untill yesterday morning, it has risen to 20 in just 12 hours.

The Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Pattnaik has urged the people linked to the Nizamuddin incidence to voluntarily inform the authorities and provide information about their contacts. The state government has so far tested 28 persons linked with the Tablighi event and out of them 3 have been tested positive.

Meanwhile, the Finance Ministry has released a total of Rs 17,287.08 crore to different States to enhance their financial resources during the COVID19 crisis. This includes Rs 6,195.08 crore on account of ‘revenue deficit grant’ under 15th Finance Commission recommendations to 14 States, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has twitted. Out this amount, Odisha has received Rs.802 crore.

India’s total number of COVID19 cases climbed to 2902 which includes 2650 active cases and 68 deaths.   According to the data released by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, as many as 183 persons have been recovered from the deadly infection.

India’s total number of cases has risen sharply after the Nizamuddin religious gathering as majority of the new cases are reportedly linked to the people returned from the event.
