With 74000+ cases India now the 12th worst affected country after China

Bhubaneswar: India’s total number of cases crossed the 74 thousand-mark on Wednesday which includes 2415 deaths. With this India has now become the 12th worst affected country in the world just one step behind China, the origin of the novel Coronavirus.

As per the latest data released by the Health Ministry, India’s total cases rose to 74281 by Wednesday morning. The total number includes 47480 active cases and 2415 deaths while 24385 people have been recovered from the deadly infection and one person has migrated.

With 1931 recoveries in the last 24 hours, India’s recovery rate has improved sharply to 32.8 per cent. Meanwhile, the country has reported 122 deaths in the last 24 hours keeping the death rate stable at 3.2 per cent.

 

Yesterday, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced Rs.20 lakh Crore stimulus package for reviving the pandemic hit Indian Economy. The Finance Minister is expected to announce details of the package starting from today.

The Prime Minister also gave an indication about the fourth phase lockdown starting May 18th. However, the guidelines for the fourth phase lockdown will be announced by 18th May.

Globally the USA has remained the worst affected country with 13.69 lakh cases including 82376 deaths. The USA is followed by Russia and Spain with 2.32 lakh and 2.28 lakh cases, according to the data released by US-based John Hopkins University.

Meanwhile, China, with 84,018 cases is in the 11th spot followed by India. However, in terms of fatalities, China is ahead of India with 4637 reported deaths as compared to India’s 2415 deaths.
