#Train Accident: PM Modi to visit Train Accident site in Odisha this afternoon, Toll rises to 261

Bhubaneswar: A day after the major train accident in Odisha that claimed over 200 lives, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit the train mishap site to enquire for details. He is scheduled to arrive at the accident spot in Bahanaga (Balasore) at 2.30 pm and then visit the SCB Medical Collage in Cuttack to enquire about the condition of the injured people.

Earlier in the morning, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik visited the spot to take stock of situation. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also visited the spot along with local MP Pratap Sarangi and took stock of the rescue situation.

As many as 261 passengers were killed in the train mishap involving two express trains — Bengaluru-Howrah Express and Shalimar-Chennai Coromondel Express and a goods train at Bahanaga Bazar Station in Balasore district last evening. More than 900 passengers were injured in the tragic train accident. The rescue operation is still going on.

The Odisha government has announced one-day state mourning on 3rd June and cancelled all government functions.
