NGT orders blanket Ban on Firecrackers in Delhi NCR till 30th Nov

New Delhi: Amid worsening of the Air Quality Index (AQI) in the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR), the National Green Tribunal on Monday ordered complete ban on firecrackers from midnight today till 30th of November.

Reserving its order on 5th of November the NGT had issued notices to the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests, Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and four state governments-Delhi, Haryana, UP and Rajastan, on why there should not be a ban on firecrackers till November end.

Meanwhile, in view of the COVID-19 situation, several states including Odisha, Karnataka, Sikkim, Rajastan, Maharastra and Punjab have already announced ban on firecracker on Diwali.
