Markets open higher, Adani Enterprises up 2.23%

Mumbai: Indian indices opened higher on January 31 with Nifty around 17700.

At 09:16 IST, the BSe Sensex was up 125.40 points or 0.21% at 59625.81, and the broad-based NSE Nifty was up 41.30 points or 0.23% at 17690.30. About 1305 shares have advanced, 595 shares declined, and 97 shares are unchanged.

Adani Enterprises, BPCL, Adani Ports, UPL and JSW Steel were among major gainers on the Nifty, while losers were Tech Mahindra, L&T, Apollo Hospitals, HCL Technologies and Hindalco.

Adani Enterprises, Adani Group’s flagship company, continued to rise for the second day. Shares of Adani Enterprises rose by 2.23 percent to Rs. 2957.50 on the NSE. Adani Port & SEZ, which was in the green on Monday, further rose by 0.38 percent to Rs.599.25. However, other Adani group shares like Adani Green Energy, Adani Wilmar, Adani Power continued to plunge for the fourth consecutive session.
