Indices open higher on positive global cues, Nifty above 17400

Mumbai:  Indian indices have continued the bull run for the second consecutive day on February 16 with Nifty above 17400 on the back of positive global cues.

At 09:16 IST, the BSE Sensex was up 301.55 points or 0.52% at 58443.60, and the Nifty was up 91 points or 0.52% at 17443.50. About 1547 shares have advanced, 390 shares declined, and 70 shares are unchanged.

M&M, HDFC Life, Grasim Industries, HCL Technologies and HDFC were among major gainers on the Nifty, while losers were Power Grid Corp, Dr. Reddy’s Lab, Shree Cements, Eicher Motors and Tata Motors.

On Tuesday, the Sensex had closed with a rise of 1736 points at 58142.05 points, while Nifty was closed at 17352.50 points, a rise of 509.70 points.

Stock markets across the globe witness rally as tensions between Russia and Ukraine ease after withdrawal of some troops by the Russians. Among the Asian Indices, Nikkei is up by 551.58 points to 27,416.77 points, while Hang Seng is up by 316.92 points to 24,672.63 points on Wednesday.
