Indices open higher on positive global cues, Budget proposals

Mumbai: Indian indices continued their upward journey as investors are upbeat with the new Budget tabled yesterday. Positive global cues also contributed to the upward run.

At 9.16 am,the BSE Sensex was up 493.27 points or 0.84% at 59355.84, and the Nifty was up 144.30 points or 0.82% at 17721.10. About 1204 shares have advanced, 483 shares declined, and 85 shares are unchanged.

Kotak Mahindra Bank, ITC, Bajaj Finance, Power Grid Corporation and HDFC Life were among major gainers on the Nifty, while losers were Tech Mahindra, Adani Ports, UltraTech Cement, Britannia Industries and Sun Pharma.
