India’s daily COVID-19 death toll crosses 4500 mark, Positivity rate eases to 23%

New Delhi:  India has reported slight increase in daily cased to 2.67 lakh in the last 24 hours while daily death toll has crossed the 4500 mark for the first time.

According to the data released by Union health Ministry, India has reported 267334 fresh cases and 4529 deaths in the last 24-hours (ending 8 am today). With this India’s COVID-19 tally has increased to 25496330 while death toll has touched 283248.

However, despite slight spike in daily cases, India’s Test Positivity Rate (TPR) has eased further to 13.3 per cent against 14 per cent in the previous day and almost 18 per cent on Sunday. The drop in TPR is mainly due to testing of record 20 lakh samples yesterday.

Meanwhile, over 3.89 lakh people recovered yesterday taking the total number of recoveries to 2,19,86,363. Due to high number of recoveries, the number of active cases also declined to 32,26,719.
