India’s COVID19 death toll crosses 200, but no community transmission yet : Govt

Bhubaneswar: India reported 896 new cases and 37 deaths in the last 24 hours, government data said. This is the sharpest rise is COVID19 cases in India so far which takes the total cases to 6251 including 206 deaths.

According to data released by the Ministry of Health & Family welfare, out of total 6251 cases, 6039 are active cases, 206 deaths and 515 recoveries/cured cases.

Despite the sharpest increase in infection cases the health ministry on Friday denied community transmission in the country.

“There’s no community transmission yet in the country. So no need to be panic, but remain aware and alert” said Lav Agrawal Joint Secretary, Ministry of Health.

He rejected Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amrinder Singh’s claim about community transmission in the state.
