India sees another record spike with 2.32 lakh new cases, 2263 deaths

Bhubaneswar: In yet another record spike, India on Friday reported 2.32 lakh new cases and 2263 fatalities in the last 24 hours.

According to the data released by the Health Ministry this morning, the country reported 2,32,730 news positive cases in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 1.62 crore which includes 2428616 active cases and 186920 deaths. However, as many as 193279 patients have recovered during the last 24 hours taking the total number of recoveries to 136,48,159.

As many as 17,40,550 tests were conducted yesterday out of which 2,32,730 samples were found to be positive indicating a positivity rate of 13.37 per cent.

Global COVID-19 situation

With record daily spikes in the last several days, India has now become the second worst affected country in the world after the United States which has over 31.92 million cases and 5.70 lakh fatalities. India is followed by Brazil and France with 14.16 million and 5.4 million cases respectively, according to the data released by the US based John Hopkins University.
