India reports lesser number of new cases, deaths in 24 hours, Recovery rate touches 83%

Bhubaneswar: In a much-needed respite to the government, India on Tuesday reported a lesser number of new positive cases and deaths. The country has reported about 70 thousand new positive cases in the last 24 hours, which is lesser as compared to the daily 80+ additions in the last several days. Similarly, the country has reported less than 1000 deaths after a gap of 26 days.

As per the latest data released by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, India’s total cases rose to 61,45,452 by Tuesday morning. The total number includes 9,47,576 active cases and 96318 deaths while   5101398 people have been recovered from the viral infection.

The country reported record 70589 new cases and 776 deaths in the last 24 hours. With this India’s mortality rate has declined to 1.5 per cent while the recovery rate has improved further to 83 per cent.

Meanwhile, as many as 11,42,811 samples were tested in the last 24 hours out of which nearly 70 thousand samples were found to be positive. With this, the country has tested total 7,31,10,041samples till 28th September with a positivity rate of 8.4 per cent, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said.
