Fresh cases slipped below 2 lakh mark, Positivity rate dipped below 10%

New Delhi: In a respite for the government, India’s daily COVID-19 cases dropped below the 2 lakh mark for the first time after April 13. Number of fatalities also dropped to 3511 in the last 24-hours.

According to the data released by the Union Health Ministry, India has reported 1,96,427 new cases and 3511 deaths in the last 24-hours (till 8 am Tuesday). With, this India’s COVID-19 tally has increased to 2.69 crore, which includes 25,86,782 active cases. The sharp drop in active cases is mainly due to more number of recoveries as compared to fresh cases. As many as 3.26 lakh patients have recovered in the last 24-hours taking total number of recoveries to 2.40 crore.

On the other hand, with another 3511 deaths, India’s death toll has increased to 3.07 lakh.

With continuous drop in cases along with over 20 lakh tests, India’s Test Positivity Rate (TPR) dipped below 10 per cent which was over 20 per cent a month ago.
