COVID-19: India’s number of recoveries crosses 50,000-mark

Bhubaneswar: While India’s total number of COVID-19 cases rose to 125101, the number of recoveries has crossed a major milestone of 50 thousand on Saturday.

As per the latest data released by the Health Ministry, India’s total cases rose to 125101 by Wednesday morning. The total number includes 69597 active cases and 3720 deaths while 51783 people have been recovered from the deadly infection and one person has migrated.

With this India’s recovery rate has further improved to 41.39 per cent while the death rate has remained stable at 3%.

In the last 24 hours, India has added record 6654 new cases and 134 deaths.

Meanwhile, as many as 1,15,364 samples have been tested in the last 24 hours. With this India has tested more than 28.34 lakh samples so far, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said.

Maharastra has remained the worst affected state with 44582 confirmed cases and 1517 deaths. Maharastra is followed by Gujarat with 13268 cases and Delhi with 12319 cases.

India’s 95% cases are concentrated in 10 states Maharastra, Gujarat, Delhi, Tamilnadu, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Uttarpradesh, Andhrapradesh and Karnataka. 60% cases are concentrated in 5 cities, Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Pune and Kolkata.

Yesterday, the chief of India’s COVID-19 taskforce V.K.Paul said that 80% of India’s total cases are concentrated in only five states-Maharastra, Gujarat, Delhi, Tamilnadu and Madhya Pradesh.

Similarly, around 95% cases are concentrated in 10 states Maharastra, Gujarat, Delhi, Tamilnadu, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Uttarpradesh, Andhrapradesh and Karnataka.

Moreover, 60% cases are concentrated in 5 cities, Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Pune and Kolkata. Similarly, around 70% cases are in 10 cities  i.e. Mumbai, Delhi, Thane, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Chennai, Surat Pune, Indore and Kolkata
