All the 645 Indians evacuated from Wuhan test negative for Coronavirus : Govt

New Delhi : While the death toll due to Novel Coronavirus has climbed to 563 in mainland China, all the 645 Indian nationals evacuated by from the Chinese city of Wuhan  have tested negative. This has brought relief for the government, as Wuhan is the epicentre of the Coronavirus outbreak.

 “As on 6th February, 138750 passengers from 1265 flights have been screened for Novel Coronavirus illness. Till now, no new case has been detected. All 645 evacuees from Wuhan, China have tested negative for Novel Coronavirus. In addition, 510 samples have been tested by ICMR network laboratories of which all have tested negative except for 3 already reported positive. The 3 positive cases are clinically stable” the Indian Ministry of Health & Family wefare said on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the number of confirmed infections of the novel coronavirus on the Chinese mainland climbed to 28,018 as of Wednesday at midnight, including 563 deaths, according to the National Health Commission.

Fourth Joint Monitoring Group (JMG) meeting was held on 6th February, 2020 under Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) to discuss various technical issues including review period of follow up required for asymptomatic travellers from China.
