World Crude steel output up 4% on robust Chinese output

Biznextindia : World crude steel production grew by 4.1% to 150.2 million tonnes (Mt) in February mainly due to robust production growth in China.

According to the data released by World steel Association, Crude steel output in China, the world’s largest steel producer grew by 10.9% to 83 Mt in February. However, all other major steel producing countries have reported decline in monthly steel output.

While India’s steel output dropped by 3.1% to 9.1 M, Japan’s steel output slipped by 5.6% to 7.5Mt.  The United States produced 6.3 Mt, down 10.9%.

On the other hand, Russia is estimated to have produced 5.7 Mt, down 1.3%. South Korea produced 5.5 Mt, up 1.2%. Turkey produced 3.0 Mt, up 5.9%. Germany produced 3.1 Mt, down 10.4%. Brazil produced 2.8 Mt, up 3.8%. Iran is estimated to have produced 2.3 Mt, up 11.5%.
