Bajaj auto January sales up 8%, Domestic Commercial vehicle sales plunge 62%

Biznextindia : Bajaj Auto, India’s largest seller of three-wheeler vehicles and second largest seller of two-wheeler vehicles has registered 8 per cent growth in its January’21 sales at 425,199 units against 394,473 units in January’20.

While the company has registered flat growth in two-wheeler sales in the domestic market at 157,404 units, it has recorded highest ever sales in the export market at 227,532 units, a growth of 30 per cent. Overall, the company’s two-wheeler sales grew by 16 per cent to 394,936 units.

However, the company’s sale of commercial vehicles has remained a cause of concern as the domestic commercial vehicles sales dropped by 62 per cent to 13353 units, even as the export sales was almost flat.

Bajaj’s range of commercial vehicles are mostly comprises of three-wheeler vehicles like auto rickshaws, light pick-ups.

During the April-January 10-months period, Bajaj Auto has registered 20% drop in overall sales at 32,28,449  units mainly due to minimal sales during the lockdown months. While, Two-Wheeler sales has dropped by 14%, commercial vehicle sales slipped 52%.
