Zydus Cadila to start supplying its Covid-19 vaccine ‘ZyCOV-D’ by mid-September ; To produce 1 crore  jabs from October

Biznextindia : Zydus Cadila is planning to start the supply initial batches of its needle free COVID-19 vaccine ‘ZyCOV-D’ by mid September and from October the company is eying to produce about 1 crore a month.

“By next week we will have clarity on the price of the ZyCOV-D vaccine. The supply of vaccines will start in mid-September. In the next 45 days we’ll able to produce 30-40 lakh doses. We can scale up production of vaccines to 1 crore a month from October at the new production plant: Dr. Sharvil Patel, MD, Zydus Group.

During his interaction with the media, he said that, the company is eying to scale up its vaccine production to 10-12 doases per year.

He added that most of the vaccines will go through the government channel. However, the company is planning to make available some amount of the jabs for institutions, schools and colleges.

He further added that like the adults, the adolescences will also need to take 3 doses of the vaccine.

India’s Drug Control general of India (DCGI) on Friday cleared the vaccine for Emergency Use Authorization.

The Vaccine is said to be the world’s first and India’s indigenously developed DNA based vaccine for COVID-19 to be administered in humans including Children and adults 12 years and above.
