Gopalpur Port handles its first ever Capesize Vessel, JSPL imports 1 lakh tonnes of Lime stone through the Port

Bhubaneswar : The Gopalpur Port off the Odisha coast has accepted its first cape size vessel carrying 105,000 tons of Limestone last Saturday i.e. 12th of October.  With this the port has joined the list of select ports in India that can handle cape sized vessels.

JSPL, one of Gopalpur Ports’ key customers imported 105,000 tons of steel grade limestone from the middle-east in a ship owned by Essar Shipping.  Gopalpur Port is undertaking an expansion program which amongst other things entailed dredging of the channel to enable it to receive large Ships.  With completion of dredging, the Port is capable of receiving modern, large sized ships which can cater to the needs to its customers.
