Aditya Aluminium observes World Breastfeeding Week-2019

Bhubaneswar: Aditya Birla Group’s Hindalco Company at its Aditya Aluminium, Lapanga unit has observed the World Breast Feeding Week to create awareness on the importance and benefits of breast feeding at it’s RR Colony Pondoloi recently. As a part of its CSR initiative, the company conducted this event. The event started with introduction of the dignitaries on dais and welcome with bouquet. After lighting of lamp by guests and community women together, welcome address was given by Mr. Manoranjan Behera stating the reason for gathering and importance of the day, setting the context with data on the present scenario to apprise women on significance of breastfeeding for 6 months. Smt. Ekka CDPO (Child Development Project Officer) sensitized the women on benefits of breastfeeding, the importance of first milk containing colostrum which gives immunity to baby and govt. schemes that promote safe delivery and promotes breastfeeding. Dr. Garnik elaborated on the right methodology of breastfeeding and health impacts of adequate breastfeeding on mother and child health with a demonstration on how to wrap the baby and put to bed. Shri Satya Dash reiterated the far-fetching impact of breastfeeding and how it contributes in nation-building in terms of healthy workforce. Ms. Sweta Upadhayay thanked the mothers for their participation and patient listening to the guests and emphasized that mothers should share the information with their relatives neighbours for wider impact. Pregnant and lactating mother were provided Blood Pressure check-up and a gift as token of encouragement followed by lunch. The event was coordinated by CSR Team.

The event was attended by more than 50 lactating and pregnant women from 5 villages -Pondoloi, Dhorropani, Buliadih, Maliatikra, Phulchanger . The program was organised in collaboration with Govt. Health Department. The guest who contributed in the event were Smt.
