Over 500 dead in powerful earthquake near Turkey, Syria border

Istanbul: On Monday, a strong 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck close to Gaziantep in southeast Turkey, leaving over 500 people dead. At least 284 people died on Monday in Turkey, while 237 more deaths in Syria have been recorded as of this writing. Due to the extensive devastation, the death toll is likely to increase further.
