Markets open lower on weak global cues

Mumbai: Indian indices opened lower on Friday, January 21 with Nifty below 17600 on the back of weak global markets.

The BSE Sensex was down 564.36 points or 0.95% at 58900.26, and the Nifty was down 160.30 points or 0.90% at 17596.70. About 806 shares have advanced, 1289 shares declined, and 89 shares are unchanged.

Bajaj Finserv, Tech Mahindra, Eicher Motors, Adani Ports and Bajaj Finance were among major losers on the Nifty, while gainers were ITC, BPCL, HUL and Hindalco Industries.
