Mumbai: The Indian indices opened on a positive note on Tuesday with the Nifty exceeding 17400. The Nifty was up 134.90 points or 0.78% at 17447.80 at 09:16 IST, while the Sensex was up 411.68 points or 0.71% at 58384.30. A total of 1656 shares are up, 311 are down, and 93 are unchanged. Major gainers on the Nifty were Bajaj Finserv, ONGC, Eicher Motors, Hindalco Industries, and Tata Steel, while losers included Bharti Airtel, Reliance Industries, and Asian Paints.
