Bhubaneswar: Amidst the prevailing stalemate over its potential pre-poll alliance with the BJP, the ruling BJD commenced formal discussions today for the imminent Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the State.

BJD President and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik convened separate meetings on Monday with legislators and senior figures from the Puri and Kendrapara Lok Sabha constituencies at Naveen Niwas.

Key BJD figures, including Arun Sahoo, Rudra Maharathy, Sanjay Das Burma, Uma Samantaray, and Satyanarayana Pradhan, attended the morning session focused on the Puri Lok Sabha segment. Notably, the absence of Puri MP Pinaki Misra stirred speculation.

Addressing the media, Sahoo highlighted the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct following the announcement of the simultaneous elections in Odisha.

During the meetings, the Chief Minister emphasized fortifying BJD’s presence across all Assembly constituencies under the Puri MP seat and accelerating efforts to engage with the public. A comprehensive roadmap has been devised to strengthen ties with the electorate, the BJD general secretary revealed.

In the afternoon, BJD’s top brass strategized with legislators and leaders from the Kendrapara parliamentary constituency. Discussions centered on organizational matters and devising a winning strategy for the upcoming polls, as disclosed by a BJD representative.

Meanwhile, State BJP President Manmohan Samal journeyed to Delhi on Monday following deliberations within the party’s core and election committees. Sources indicated his mission was to present a roster of potential candidates for the impending elections, pending final approval from the BJP Parliamentary Board.
