With 60 positives in 24 hours, Odisha witness sharp rise in COVID-19 cases

Bhubaneswar: Odisha witnessed a sharp surge in positive cases after the arrival of migrant workers from Surat. After reporting 34 cases on Thursday, Odisha reported 26 fresh cases this morning. With more people slated to arrive today from Surat, the tally may rise exponentially in the coming days.

Out of the 26 cases, 19 are from Ganjam, two from Bhadrak and five are from Kendrapada. All these persons are Surat returnees and are having Coronavirus symptoms. With these fresh cases, Odisha’s total number of cases has increased to 245.

 

While Odisha took 37 days to report its first 100 positive cases, its took only 11 days for reach from 100 to 200 and going by the current trend it may take even lesser days to touch 300. In last 24 hours, as many as 60 people have been tested positive with COVID-19.

Out of the 245 cases in Odisha, 181 are active cases and 2 patients have died while 62 people have successfully treated and discharged from hospitals.

India: 3390 cases in 24 hours

India’s total number of COVID-19 cases has surged past 56 thousand today which includes 37916 active cases and 1886 deaths. As per the latest data released by the Health Ministry, as many as 16539 people have been cured and discharged from hospitals across the country and one person have migrated.

In the last 24 hours, India has added 3390 more positive cases and 103 deaths. Maharastra has remained the worst affected state with 17974 cases.
