Bhubaneswar: Odisha on Wednesday reported 76 fresh cases taking the tally to 1593 which includes 853 active cases and 7 deaths while 733 people have recovered.
According to the Health and Family welfare department, out of the 76 new confirmed cases, 74 are detected in the quarantine centres while two are local transmissions. As many as 4679 samples have been tested in the state in the last 24 hours.
Odisha has been witnessing sharp rise in COVID-19 cases after the arrival of migrant workers. As many as 153738 migrants returned to the state by 109 special trains so far, Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy said yesterday.
Despite the rising numbers, Odisha has kept its fatality rate under control at 0.43 per cent against the national rate of 2.8 per cent. Odisha’s recovery rate has also improved to 46% against the national rate of 42 per cent.
