Odisha reports 3rd COVID-19 death, 58 new cases

Bhubaneswar: Odisha on Sunday reported its 3rd COVID-19 death as a person from Ganjam district succumbed to the deadly infection.
The state also reported record 58 positive cases taking the tally to 352.
According to the data released by the state government, out of the 58 persons, 29 are from Ganjam, 15 from Balasore, 13 from Angul and one from Mayurbhanj district.

Out of the 58, as many as 41 persons are Surat returnees while 10 are West Bengal Returnees.
Ganjam , which was in the Green Zone in the beginning of the month, is now the worst affected district of Odisha wirth 118 positive cases.
Meanwhile, with 13 cases, Angul has added in the list of corona infected districts. Odisha has now 20 districts with COVID-19 cases.
Out of the 352 cases in the state, 281 are active cases while 68 persons have been successfully treated and discharged from the hospitals.

Meanwhile, a top advisor to the state government has claimed that Odisha has reached at the door-step of 3rd stage transmission.
“ With thousands of people are coming from corona hotspots like Surat, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, the cases are rising drastically. With this we can say the state is now at the door-step of stage-3 transmission” said Dr Jayant Panda, the technical spokesperson of the state health department.
