Odisha receives first consignment of 1.5 lakh doses of Covaxin from Bharat Biotech
Bhubaneswar: Odisha has received 1.5 lakh doses of Covaxin Vaccine, as the first consignment of State’s own procurement for vaccination of 18-44 years age-group.
These vaccines will only be used in Bhubaneswar Municipal (BMC) Area. Slots will be opened on COWIN for sessions to be held from Monday. Tomorrow, i.e on May 1, state will have a trial, symbolic commencement of 18-44 years vaccination, with vaccination of a token few beneficiaries, in view of the urban area weekend shutdown.
For the 3rd phase vaccination programme, the Odisha government has ordered 3.44 crore doses of Covishield vaccine from Pune based Serum Institute of India (SII) and about 10.34 lakh doses of Covaxin from Hyderabad based Bharat Biotech.
