India’s total cases cross 14000 mark

Bhubaneswar: India’ total number of COVID19 cases surpassed the 14,000 mark on Saturday. As per the data released by the Ministry of Health and Family welfare India has total 14,378 cases till Saturday morning, which includes 11,906 active cases, 480 fatalities and 1991 recoveries.

However, for three consecutive days, Odisha has not reported any new case. The state has so far tested 8619 samples, of which 60 samples are tested positive.In the last three days, Odisha has tested more than 2000 sample but all return negative.

Out of the 60 cases, as many as 21 patients have recovered and one person has died so far. So the state’s COVID19 recovery rate is 35%, its death rate is only 1.6% which is way better than the national average.

India’s recovery rate has increased to 13.84% from only 8% a week ago. But it is still less than the world average of 24%. Meanwhile, the world death rate is little more than 6%, the recovery rate is 24%.

Despite crossing the 14,000 mark, India has witnessed 40% decline in the growth of new cases. “We are witnessing average growth factor at 1.2 since April 1 which stood at 2.1 (average) between March 15 & March 13. Hence, there is 40 per cent decline in average growth factor even as we increased COVID19 testings” the health ministry has said yesterday.

India’s Recovery to Death ratio is at 80:20 which is better than several other countries in the World.

Worldwide, the total number of COVID19 cases has already crossed 22 lakh mark which includes 1.54 lakh deaths and 5.71 lakh recoveries.
