CESU announces 4% discount for its domestic consumers

Bhubaneswar: Amid the lockdown, the Central Electricity Supply Utility of Odisha (CESU) on Thursday announced a special discount of 4% for its 23 lakh domestic consumers in the state. The Discount will be on and above the existing rebates and incentives for the domestic electricity consumers making payment during April this year, said CESU in a statement.

The consumers who could not pay during the rebates dates falling between 22nd March to 31st March can also get this special discount, said the Discom.

In a statement, the CESU said it has been providing billing information through SMSs / e-mail and on-demand of the consumers through the toll-free number of call centre. Consumers can pay their electricity dues online through various digital mode / mobile App like Paytm and Airtel / Debit Card / Credit Card etc. Consumers can make payment through cheques maintaining the social distance measure by availing Cheque drop facilities at different offices of CESU.

CESU further added that it will raise the bills of consumers, where meter reading is not taken, on last recorded consumption basis as per OERC Regulation in the absence of actual meter reading and adjusting the same once the actual meter reading is taken.

Apart from these measures, the Discom has expanded its Consumer Call Centre from 5 lines to 13 lines facilities to help consumers through toll-free number – 1912 and 1800-345-7122.
