As weekend Shutdown begins, Odisha reports 6647 fresh COVID-19 cases

Bhubaneswar: While the weekend Shutdown has begun in the urban areas of Odisha from today, the state has reported over 6600 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours.

According to the daily data released by the Odisha Information and Public Relations Department (I&PR), the state has reported 6647 fresh COVID-19 cases out of which 3855 are in quarantine and 2792 are local contacts.

With these new cases, Odisha’s COVID-19 tally has crossed the 4 lakh mark which includes 43304 active cases and 356003 recoveries. In the last 24 hours as many as 2452 patients have recovered from the deadly virus.

 

Among the districts, Khurdha has remained the worst affected with 1189 new cases followed by Sundargah and Nuapara with 788 and 559 fresh cases respectively. While, Kalahandi has reported 361 new cases Jhrsuguda has reported 343 new cases. Out of the 6647 new cases, 1250 cases are from the 10 districts bordering or in close proximity with Chattisgarh.

Meanwhile, the weekend shutdown ordered by the state government has begun from today and will continue till 5 am on Monday. However, the authorities have announced one hour relaxation from 5 am to 6 am for morning work and other physical activities.
