With over 6000 fresh cases India’s COVID-19 tally nears 1.5 lakh

Bhubaneswar: India’s COVID-19 tally climbed to 1.45 lakh on Tuesday as the country added 6535 new confirmed cases in the last 24 hours. Considering the current rate of growth, India’s tally may touch the 1.5 lakh mark by Wednesday morning.

As per the latest data released by the Health Ministry, India’s total cases rose to 145380 by Wednesday morning. The total number includes 80722 active cases and 4167 deaths while 60490 people have been recovered and one person has migrated.

With 2770 recoveries in the last 24 hours, India’s recovery rate has improved to 41.60 per cent. However, the country has reported 146 deaths since yesterday keeping the death rate at 2.8 per cent.

Meanwhile, as many as 92528 samples were tested in the last 24 hours out of which 6535 samples are positive. With this, the country has tested total 31,26,119 samples till 26th of May with a positivity rate of 4.6 per cent, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said.

Maharashtra has remained the worst affected state with 52667 confirmed cases and 1695 deaths. Maharastra is followed by Tamilnadu, Gujarat and Delhi with 17082, 14460 and 14053 cases respectively.
