Supreme Court dismisses Rafale Review petitions

NewDelhi : In a big boost for the rulling NDA government, the Supreme Court of India on Thursday dismissed petitions seeking a review of its judgment on the Rafale deal last year. On December 14, 2018, the SC had dismissed the petitions seeking an CBI investigation into alleged irregularities in the Rs 58,000 crore deal with French firm Dassault Aviation.

The judgment was delivered by a Bench headed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi and comprising Justices SK Kaul and KM Joseph after it was reserved in May 10 this year.

“We do not consider the submissions for the registration of FIR to be fair” Pronouncing the judgment, Justice Kaul said.

Citing irregularities in the deal, former Union Ministers Yashwant Sinha, Arun Shourie and eminent lawyer Prasant Bhushan had filed a review against the decision of the Apex Court.
