Mumbai: Indian benchmark indices opened on firm note on June 5 with Nifty around 18600. At 09:16 hrs IST, the BSE Sensex was up 358.78 points or 0.57% at 62,905.89, and the NSE Nifty was up 100.10 points or 0.54% at 18,634.20.
At 9.40 am, the Sensex shed the early gains and was up 286 points or 0.46% at 62,833.14. Similarly, the NSE Nifty was up 67.50 points to 18601 points.
About 1823 shares advanced, 489 shares declined, and 124 shares unchanged. Hindalco Industries, Power Grid Corp, M&M, Wipro and ICICI Bank were among major gainers on the Nifty, while losers were Eicher Motors, BPCL, Asian Paints, Apollo Hospitals and Nestle India.
