Sensex, Nifty gain even as Adani stocks plunge

Mumbai: Boosted by positive global cues, Indian markets opened higher on November 22, with the Nifty crossing the 23,400 mark. At the opening Sensex gained 175.65 points, or 0.23%, to reach 77,331.44, while the Nifty rose by 52.60 points, or 0.23%, to 23,402.50.

By 9.45am Sensex extended its gain to 419.40 points or 0.54% to reach 77,575.19 points while the Nifty gained by 122.65 points or 0.53% to 23,472.55 points.

Among the market breadth, 1,462 shares advanced, 889 declined, and 119 remained unchanged. Leading gainers on the Nifty included HDFC Life, ONGC, ICICI Bank, SBI, and Tata Consumer, while top losers were Adani Ports, Adani Enterprises, Shriram Finance, Titan Company, and JSW Steel.
