Sensex hits new all time high, crosses 37,400 points, Nifty touches 11,300 points

Mumbai:  Indian markets today opened the week in a positive note with both BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty reaching new all-time heights despite fall in Asian markets.

While the BSE Sensex has crossed the crucial 37,400 mark in the early hours of trading , Nifty also gained the 11,300 mark.  By 10 am Sensex has reached to 37,409.64 points, a gain of 72.79 points. Similarly, Nifty has also rose by17.35 points to 11,295.70 points.

Bank of Broda, BEML, Tata Steel are the top gainers. While Bank of Baroda gains by  8.15% to Rs. 148.75, Tata Steel also rose by 6.56% to Rs.118.50.

Meanwhile, Asian markets drifted lower on Monday while currencies kept to familiar ranges ahead of a busy week peppered with central bank meetings, corporate results and updates on US inflation and payrolls. Japan’s Nikkei 225 dropped by   0.66% to 22,562 points.
