Polling begins in Maharashtra, Haryana amid tight security

Biznxtindia : Poling for two BJP ruled states Maharashtra and Haryana has begun at 7 am today. While BJP is eying to retain power in these two crucial states on the basis of th popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the opposition lead by Congress is looking repeat its success in last year’s Rajasthan, Madhyapradesh and Chattisgarh elections.

 

Maharashtra

Polling for 288 Assembly constituencies of the state where BJP, under the leadership of Devendra Fadnavis, is seeking a second straight term in the state, began at 7 am on Monday. Besides, bye-elections will also take place in Satara Lok Sabha constituency. Polling is expected to conclude at 6 pm.

Haryana

Voting for 90 seats of the state began at 7 am on Monday.  Among the early voters were Haryana Congress chief Kumari Selja, BJP candidate Sonali Phogat as well as wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt. Haryana’s lone woman minister Kavita Jain also cast her vote in Sonipat.
