Poll dates announced for 4 states, Puducherry, Results on May 2

NewDelhi : The Election Commission of India on Friday announced the election dates for 4 states -West Bengal, Kerala, Tamilnadu, Assam and one Union Territory-Puducherry.  Chief Election commissioner Sunil Arora announced the dates in a press conference held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

Elections will be held in eight phases in West Bengal, three in Assam and one in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry.

Elections will be held for 294 seats in West Bengal, 234 seats in Tamil Nadu, 140 seats in Kerala, 124 seats in Assam and 30 seats in Puducherry. In addition, by-elections will be held for the Mullapuram Loksabha constituency in Kerala and Kanyakumari Lok Sabha Seat in TamilNadu. “All of these elections will be held adhering COVID-19 guidelines,” he said.

Assam: 3 phases

Voting: March 27, April 1, April 6

Kerala: One phase

Voting: April 6

Tamil Nadu: One phase

Voting: April 6

Puducherry: One phase

Voting: April 6

West Bengal: 8 phases

Voting: March 27, April 1, April 6, April 10, April 17, April 22, April 26, April 29

The counting of votes will take place on May 2.
