Cuttack: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on the Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that the later is frequently visiting Odisha only to seek votes.

“The Prime Minister did not come to Odisha in the time of misery. He did not have time then. Now since elections is underway, he is frequenting to the State” he said.

Speaking about the Centre’s share in the construction of Fakir Mohan Medical College and Hospital here, the CM said the State spent Rs 10,000 crore for the medical institution while the Central Government gave only Rs 100 crore. He further alleged that a Central Minister from Odisha had been opposing the medical college. But the State Government made it possible after taking permission from the Supreme Court-appointed Central Empowered Committee, he added.

“In 2014, the BJP stormed into power with a landslide majority. The people had high hopes on the party it had assured them. But the party did not do anything for them. Rather it did everything to make the rich richer while the poor became the poorer,” the Chief Minister said in his address at the public meeting.

Meanwhile, responding to the CMs remark on Modi, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that the Prime Minister and other central ministers have visited several times to the state to review the developmental projects. In several occasions, the CM had also joined the Prime Minister during the launch of developmental projects.
