Petrol, Diesel prices hiked again for second consecutive day

Bhubaneswar: Prices of Petrol, Diesel hiked again for second consecutive day by 80 paise across the country on Wednesday.

Following the latest hike, petrol in Delhi is now retailing at Rs 97.01 a litre while diesel is selling at Rs 88.27. In the financial capital Mumbai, petrol price now stands at Rs 111.67 while diesel costs Rs 95.85, data available on Indian Oil Corporation’s website showed. In Bhubaneswar, Petrol is being sold at Rs.103.51 while Diesel is being sold at Rs.93.33.

On Tuesday, state owned Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) had hiked both the fuel prices by 80 paise, the first hike after 137 days. So in two days, the prices have been hiked by Rs.1.60 paise. However, final price will differ according to state taxes/VAT.

Hike in domestic fuel price was imminent after rise in international crude oil prices following the Russian attack on Ukraine and subsequent economic sanctions by USA and its western alliance partners. Crude oil prices have shot up over 25 per cent since the last hike in November.
