Odisha deploys Veterinary Doctors for COVID19 testing

Bhubaneswar:  Odisha on Thursday deployed several senior Veterinary doctors in the fight against corona virus pandemic.

The Odisha government has prepared the Animal Disease Research Institute (ADRI) located at Phulankhara near Bhubaneswar for COVID19 testing.  The government has also deployed 5 senior veterinary surgeons to ADRI with immediate effect till further orders.

Not only Odisha, several other states like Kerala and Telengana are also using Vet labs for COVID-19 testing.

On April 9, the Indian Veterinary Association wrote to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) saying that facilities and trained faculty for testing coronaviruses were available in most of the veterinary universities

So far, Odisha has reported 142 COVID-19 positive cases including 102 active cases and 39 recoveries. On   Thursday itself, 17 new cases have been reported which include 6 females and 3 kids, the government data shows.
