Bhubaneswar: The Prime Minister’s vision for simultaneous Lok Sabha and State Assembly elections has secured the support of BJD. The Chief Minister of Odisha and President of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) today endorsed the Prime Minister’s call for simultaneous elections, saying that it’ll serve the nation.
“Elections are essential in democracy. We are elected to work for the people.When elections are held throughout the year, It affects the development works. Therefore we support the suggestion of PM Narendra Modi for simultaneous elections. This will serve the country well” Naveen has tweeted in response to a letter by the Law Commission.

The Law commission has written to the Chief Minister to know his thought and suggestions regarding simultaneous elections. The Commission has already the favored the idea.
Political experts in Odisha have opined that Naveen’s support to the proposal is in expected lines, as it’ll benefit the BJD. Since 2004 Odisha has been going to poll simultaneously with the General Elections.
