Investors lost Rs. 3.3 lakh Crore as Sensex plunges 1066 points, Nifty slips below 11,700 points

Mumbai: Profit booking in IT, Banking and Pharma sectors broke the 10 consecutive day rally of the benchmark indices. Both the BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty plunge significantly erasing a week’s gains.

While the Sensex plunged 1066 points or 2.61% to close below the 40 thousand mark at 39728.41 points, Nifty slipped by 290 points to close below at 11680.35 points.

Investors lost about Rs.3.3 lakh crore as the total market capitalisation of BSE-listed companies slip to Rs. 157.31 lakh crore.

While Asian paints, Coal India and JSW Steel are the top gainers, Bajaj Finance, Tech Mahindra, ICICI Bank, Reliance and Indusind bank are the major losers.
