Mumbai: After a black Monday, the indices opened Tuesday on a strong note on positive global cues especially the Asian markets.
At 09:16 IST, the Sensex was up 471.25 points or 0.84% at 56293.26, and the Nifty was up 133 points or 0.80% at 16747.20. About 1351 shares have advanced, 525 shares declined, and 71 shares are unchanged.
Bajaj Finserv, Tata Steel, ICICI, Wipro, Hindalco Industries and Bajaj Finance were among major gainers on the Nifty, while losers were Cipla, Bajaj Auto, Dr Reddy’s Labs, Eicher Motors.
On Monday, investors lost Rs. 6.81 lakh crore as Sensex plunged by 1190 to slip to 55182, whereas, the Nifty dipped by 371 points to 16614 points.
