Indian Indices open lower on weak global cues, Sensex dips 888 pts

Mumbai : Indian indices opened on a negative note on January 27 with Nifty below 17,050 on the back of weak global cues amid US Federal Reserve’s indication of a rate hike in March.

At 09:16 IST, the BSE Sensex was down 888.13 points or 1.54% at 56970.02, and the Nifty was down 256.40 points or 1.48% at 17021.40 points.

About 603 shares have advanced, 1524 shares declined, and 99 shares are unchanged. Tech Mahindra, Nestle India, Wipro, Grasim Industries and HDFC Bank were among major losers on the Nifty, while only gainer was ONGC.
