India’s total cases rise to 1.58 lakh, Recovery rate improves to 43%

Bhubaneswar: India added 6566 new cases in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 1.58 lakh including 4531 deaths.  However, the country has maintained steady progress in its recovery rate which has further improved to nearly 43 per cent.

As per the latest data released by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, India’s total cases rose to 158333 by Thursday morning. The total number includes 86110 active cases and 4531 deaths while 67692 people have been recovered and one person has migrated.

With 3266 recoveries in the last 24 hours, India’s recovery rate has improved to 42.75 per cent. Meanwhile, the country has reported 195 deaths since yesterday keeping the death rate at 2.86 per cent.

Meanwhile, as many as 116041 samples were tested in the last 24 hours out of which 6566 samples are positive. With this, the country has tested total 32,42,160 samples till 28th of May with a positivity rate of 4.8 per cent, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said.

The situation in Maharastra is deteriorating fast as the state’s tally rose to 56948 including 1897 deaths as on Thursday. The state now contributes 36 per cent of India’s total cases of 1.58 lakh.
