India’s COVID-19 cases surge past 78000, Death Toll rises to 2549

Bhubaneswar: Despite 50+ days of lockdown, India’s total number of cases crossed the 78 thousand-mark on Wednesday which includes 2549 deaths. However, the country’s recovery rate has improved further to 33.6%.

As per the latest data released by the Union Health & Family Welfare Ministry, India’s total cases rose to 78003 by Thursday morning. The total number includes 49219 active cases and 2549 deaths while 26234 people have been recovered from the deadly infection and one person has migrated.

With 1849 recoveries in the last 24 hours, India’s recovery rate has improved sharply to 33.6 per cent. Meanwhile, the country has reported 134 deaths in the last 24 hours keeping the death rate stable at 3.2 per cent.
